When WILL folks quit picking on a person that builds to his/her choice? I don't recall the owner/builder ASKING FOR OPINIONS.
Sure there are LOTS of cars/trucks that AREN'T my choice, but hey, this is America, each to his/her own.
I don't get it, if a grandmother introduced us to her granddaughter, and she wasn't an attractive child, would we tell the grandmother, SHE IS UGLY, or she should wear her hair another way, or dress better?
I enjoy originals, but also modified cars/trucks TOOOOOOOOO. I'm just THANKFUL to do what I can to enjoy the 86,400 seconds of each day.

Dale, You pretty much summed it up here. I wonder how many individuals here would even have the talent to pull off a build like this. Its easy to pic someone elses build apart from the convenience of your keyboard. This would be a much more enjoyable place if the negative comments were left out of the discussion.

Personally if they were to of kept it with a Buick engine I think the Nailhead would have fit the bill best. The 455 is a great engine but in my opinion dose not fit the car any better then the Chev engine. If I had only the two to choose from I would have made the same choice the builder did.

Guess it is time to muddy up the waters again! As can be seen below, I own several Buicks. All are original cars and all are in running/driving condition with the exception of the '52 which was saved because of it's uniqueness and one the '57 model 46 R's which is being converted to a restomod. It will be predomitaly Buick (not all '57) with some modern up grades like a new frame /suspension, disc brakes, fuel injection and etc. It will still look very much like a '57 model 46 R. If is ever shown at a Buick event it will have a placard in front of it to help viewers understandwhat the modifications are.
I happen to like all old car's! To me it sets the wrong image of the Buick Club of America to be so openly critical of people's tastes that happen to be different than yours. From my limited knowledge, our Club has a declining membership. In my humble opinion we need to reach out to all facets of the Buick community. People have probably been modifying cars since day two of their introduction, especially the post WWII era. There is somewhat of a renewal today in modifying cars especially restomoding likely due to to the exposure from TV programs like Overhaulin', Fast & Furious and various other.
This a real turn off to viewers to our forums that have differing tastes. Do we need to rename our club "Restored Buick Club of America"? I think not! We need to welcome ALL Buick enthusits!
Just my 2 cents!
Gary
Very well said Gary.

Outstanding workmanship and dedication. I would have to go back and look as it has been a while but, does this car have the early metal back bucket seats? That in my opinion would put it over the top...

The carbs will more then likely need rebuilt but operate freely and the bases and butterflies look to be in excellent condition. The air cleaner housing and horns are in excellent condition needing only to be refinished. The item is in Washington state 1750.00 PM or call with any inquires.

Rob, I would pull the distriputor, make a 3/8" rod ground to fit the oil pump then use a drill to prime the engine. Pull the rocker covers and once you see the oil coming up through the rockers you know your good. Also once the engine is primed with the rocker covers off you can turn the engine over and see if you have any stuck valves.Turning the engine over untill it has oil pressure in a engine that has sat for 20 some years could cause damage. JM2C Good Luck.

If you know what brand they are you may want to post that.
I don't know what brand they are. Is there some place on them that would tell? I came by them cleaning out a estate and they had 1957 Buick tag on them so I tried them on my Super and they did not fit. Then I tried them on my Century and Special and the fit perfect.

I have a set of 1963 Pontiac Bonneville bucket seats for sale. The drivers side is 4-way electric. It has forward & back, up & down. I tested the electric with the seat laying on its back and it worked fine but I am sure you would want to take it all apart and clean & paint. The chrome is pealing and pitted but would be fine for rechrome. The lower chrome trim on the bottom of the seat frames are not included in the sale but the plastic red skirts are. The seats are in Grays Harbor Washington. I am asking 550.00 for the pair. Please PM me or call 36O-5O9-8l82.
Thanks Dan

Still learning. Seems the different series did have different size seats. I think my best bet is to start checking seats out at car shows etc until I find the style and size I want. here is a recent posting on Craigs list. thanks again everybody for your help so far.
bucket seats 1963 64 65 gm pontiac
i have a set of gm bucket seat cores for a classic bigger general motors car i was told they are out of a 1963 gran prix i bought them for my 1965 buick skylark covert but they are too big for my car so i am guessing they will work in the bigger cars like the wildcat gran prix impala olds and so on they are good cores the drivers side will need new foam the tracks are all there and good and they even come with the brackets that are welded to the floor in the car that the tracks bolt to the previous owner cut the floor sections off the car they came out of maybe they will fit other a body cars but not a 65 skylark the floor mounting is way different have to know what your looking for i guess i also have a backseat core that came with my car also too big for my car at least the convertable model maybe a coupe? i don't have a clue another 100 for the back seats these have chrome all the way around the top that will polish up but is pitted all the other hardware appears to be there any questions just ask i will trade for bucket cores for a 1965 buick skylark or any gm a-body from 65 or 64 i would also trade for a 4 speed harley transmission in useable condition 727-784-8743 will call back after 5 during the week or e-mail me thanks. pontiac oldsmobile chevy buick 1962 63 64 65 66 this item has been reposted due to someone trying a scam on me so i will not deal with anyone that wants me to ship this or pay a mover or won't call me and see the item in person and pay cash i will answer questions through e-mail but will only deal in person thanks.
I used the 62-64 full size GM buckets in my 57'. I explain in detail the process in which to install from post 81 on. I used a string line at the top of the door jamb and a level on the back of the seat cushion frame with the back rest folded forward. Hope this helps a bit. http://forums.aaca.org/f118/1957-buick-super-build-339266-4.html
