Thanks, it is already on my to do list. I will send for both body 141 and 142, will that by $40 then?

Thank you Gentlemen, I assume that the LZOC membership packet will have that address in it and I will send for it at that time. Have a Happy New Year.

The Cabriolet will have a completely new/cleaned out system and I will use the "synthetic" fluid, I was just wondering about adding it to my other vehicles. I guess if all else fails, I could read the instructions on the container.

Thanks for the response, I have been using that in my wife's car and did not know that it was better than silicone. Can you mix it with other fluids?

Okay Lincoln-Zephyr Drivers, I am in the middle of replacing the master cylinder, all wheel cylinders and the flex lines, what type of brake fluid do you experts use? I use silicone in most of my treasures but don't know if it is appropriate in this beauty.

Thanks guys, nothing on the trunk lid. The VIN number is H98364 and the previous owner was a member of the LCOC during the '50s so hopefully it is listed.

You did mean on the trunk lid, not under the gasket on the body where the lid locks down, didn't you?
-
I looked very carefully again Tom, and cannot find any markings. The trunk lid is primered so it may not be the original. Is there anywhere else that I might look?
-
No luck, I cannot find anything stamped on the trunk lid.

I have yet to receive my membership in the LZOC so am operating in the dark with only help from you folks. The tag with the body number on my '40 Cabriolet has been removed and I wonder if a cross reference is possible to it by using the frame number in Ford's factory records?
-
Frenchy, your reputation has gotten around. Are you still doing your magic on V-12s?
-
John Murphy enlightened me as to body number vs frame number and I cannot find the body number tag on the car. It must have been removed from it's home near the passenger side hood hinge but I can find no evidence of the rivet holes. I am trying to fill the cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil but am having a heck of a time removing the spark plugs because of the custom made exhaust headers. One of them took me an hour to remove and I still have three to go, goodness knows how the builder planned to do a spark plug change. Reminds me of the the 429 in the Mustang.

It opened for me but I could not find anything on the convertible, it looks exactly like the Chassis Parts book.
-
It looks like I am going to have to remove this cylinder to work on it, which I assume means removing the back seat and the panels on which the arm rests are attached. I just received the Ford Service Manual and Lincoln Chassis Parts Catalogue but neither of them address the convertible top parts or power equipment, is there any known written material on this system?
-
I hate to be dominating this forum but need some more advice. The right cylinder that powers the convertible top is "frozen" and after a number of days of trying to soak it with penetrating lubricant, it still will not move. I am being careful not to apply too much pressure in fear of damaging it. Any ideas?

Yes Sir, H98362 is stamped on the frame. Is this list available on line and how do I register my car? It has an old LCOC badge on the grill but maybe he never registered the number.
-
Thanks again Peecher, I ought to have you on retainer and speed dial. The Carburetor does look pretty clean, it will be interesting to see the insides.
-
Thank you Peecher you know some stuff, I will call Daytona tomorrow morning. Do you know where the engine number is, if they had one, so that I could put a date to the engine? I heard that this was a "crate" engine purchased fresh from the factory to be inserted into this car.
-
I haven't had a chance to lift the car and do a lot of inspecting yet so I do not know about the transmission but it does have an enclosed original looking drive shaft and rear end with a Columbia attached.
-
Does anybody know the nomenclature of this carb and if there is a rebuild kit for it?
-
Is the carb worth rebuilding and use or should I replace it?

Does anybody recognize this engine and carburetor? It was inserted into my 1940 Cabriolet, I know very little about Lincoln engines (a friend thought it was a 292) and wonder what this one is. Where would the serial number be?. I need to rebuild the carb and have never seen one like this and hope that one of you folks know all about it.

Boy, I hope that this isn't a stupid question that will illicit a response like that light switch guy got. My right (pax side) power cylinder for the top is still seized and I guess that I am going to have to remove it. I don't have a library of manuals but the ones in which I looked give no clue as to how to dismantle the car to gain access. Do any of you have tips on the easiest way to get to and remove the problem cylinder?
