  1. Yes  for 32 thru 53 valve guide pilot.  They come up time to time on ebay.   Or check with snap on ; Mine

is snap on.     Or find a pilot for your size guide,  what these do is swell up the two piece guide so it

doesn't fall out.   Hard to ex plane but these are bigger than the valve stem but have split ends to swell

    when pushed in.     sam

  2. This one kind of special built for Hammond Organ Co. Boston.  The raised roof- I suspect it was brought back

to the factory (they did modifications  like that)  two weeks engine done 391 Industrial Ford with Allison 6 speed.

So, something like this is "One foot at a time"   some pics  its former glory  as it is now.

  3. Back in my bus co. days we ran Flxibles 1946's and up. Panoramic (reg.by Flxible) produced by Pittsburg

glass were called Solex a greenish tint. I don't recall seeing any pre 1946 (1941 thru 1945).  Optional at

extra cost as well as A/C coaches...

  4. I can't visualize how you would pull a steering wheel with a bearing splitter without doing severe damage to the mast

Because you do not clamp the splitter that tight so it scratches the post.   See above pic the Dodge truck.  All wheels can be drilled and tapped.

Don't be fooled seeing plastic under the nut- there is steel under the plastic that goes to the base where the splitter makes contact.

Last summer I used this method on a 49 F8 I must have had 5 tons on pressure on it then it popped. No damage at all...

  5. How many you want?     Very typical of trucks/buses also cars, when we use to rebuild things.  The reason is the housing

is what takes the beating the ball stud is hardened.  Can't fall out because the ball stud goes through the bottom then a

spring, then a cap (like a freeze out plug) plus some are drilled for a cottor pin to capture the cap. Best to measure the

bore and measure the thread per inch & determine left or right threads.  I probably have 30 of those service kits for

    9,000lb Rockwell axles...

  6. What we get our self's into?  This has been entombed since the 40's .   Original paint (well it was) plenty of rain leaking in

all those years.  With in the same day got it running (perfect a quiet one too)  drives and stops. Always wanted a 33-34

I kick myself I should have bought them when they were 50 bucks in a used car lot..   I thought we bought a Ford, guess

parts are more like a Lincoln V12 or something.  Ebay prices whew!!   Paid less for the whole running car for what they

want for a grill.  During its sleep somebody stole rear fenders  and back seat those do not exist (at least right now). I mean

craigs list- rear fenders $900 and another $1900 to get them fair..??  Motto of the story "they are still out there"

  7. Old shop saying "once metal has been removed, its mighty hard to put it back on".  All I can say to make you feel better,

out of high school I worked in my uncles bus co. where I got real familiar with FB320 straight eights.  They were run hard

like 8hrs X 5 days.  Remembering cherry red manifolds which often cracked, but roughly 100,000 was not uncommon before

a rebuild . We always had a complete ready to go engine on hand / about a 1/2hr and the bus was out the door power unit slid

in a cradle like a draw.   So I have high respect for these still have one in the shed....only snake oil back then was the new

STP.   We bought McMillan ring free #30 oil by the drums and changed them 2,000 miles.  good ole days.

  8. Its all relative   come to taxachussets my truck is $450 for a stupid 2 cent sticker !

In my books anything 1933 or 34 is big bucks.  So here that 1934 $700 plates will be

a vanity plate, and you pay $100 for one foolish sticker.  v/s a regular antique plate

are $50   And these crooks, example my plate on a 85 Lincoln handed down from

my grandfather being 9000's  4 digit number issued around 1906 my father said, and

I gotta pay $100 again for a sticker. They got no mercy.  You reading this Gov Baker?

  9. Got some bad news from the machine shop, those heads that only have 48,000 miles are worn out and need all new intake valves and guides plus the one exhaust valve and will be around 500 dollars to repair. He told me all the motors of this era were like that and I was told by others it was common to for that era of motors to need a valve job around 50,000 so I am going to pick up a later set of heads to have gone through. I have put over 200,000 on the late 80s and up 302s without any valve problems so its going to get a set of E7 heads.

$500 ?  Machine shop must be in Las Vegas where there's deep pockets  no way around here

  10. I may have miss read this, but a fused headlite switch?  All  M.E.Lincolns I've worked on has breakers.  Acc. vanity group options are

fused.  I have the same problem on a 59 Continental, as the lights are possessed, they go out come back on thats a weak breaker that

is part of the switch plus it has Autronic Eye that takes some juice.  On this there is absolutely no way to get ya hand up there with all

those air conditioning ducts 500 miles of wires. Do you know these have a computer / univac type heat and air system?

  11. You know stringing wires on a phone pole is as old as telegraph lines.  One of the wonders of the world was free TV with an antenna!

For like $100 or so, now all you get is lengthy death insurance commercials-dont bother changing channels you get the same commercial.

Commercials or sponsers cost money and it cost us money to watch this junk Like take this pill but you gonna die. Or if you take that

pill and die you may collect from our insurance.  Now is that totally stupid or what. Rather watch a John Camron Swazie Timex commercial.

can't wait till Comcast goes belly up.

  12. A 1952 Ford 2dr Police Crusier Yes a town cruiser.  Ah things your father could do in a small town.  Here if a standard shift you could drive anything.  An automatic was just for automatics and my so called "pink slip" was 5 bucks good for 6 mo. I think. And just a small town

thing my father bent elbows with the registry inspector.  You do know what bending elbows means.

  13. Although not gold but a while back I took some silver dollars not mint but in good shape to three different coin dealers.  The highest

I could get was about $4.50 each?  I thought that was bull, walked out.  My way of thinking is a new 1923 Ford around $250 or so.

So 2 yrs ago I did buy a 23 Ford straight no rust (engine apart in boxes) but all there for $8,000. I did all the machine work.

About $500 in parts It mainly needed valves and new seats bottom good came with new pistons etc.. Not counting the engine, but

$8,000 divided by $250 in silver equals  $32 a coin.  ??  or is my arithmetic bad ?

Here is $8000 car as bought and runs perfectly.  And underneath is perfect as perfect NO RUST.

two owner car.   You be the judge.  sam
