  1. The floor mounted long rollers prove it was built to hold/roll a casket in place.  IMO

My Dad ordered and sold several FLEXIBLE coaches over many years, they were the quality units of that time.

  2. I like the STANCE, ROOF LINE, REAR WINDOWS, REAR FENDER KICK UP, but front fenders are a bit to long, the extension of the  head light covers are a bit to much, IMO. I think the lowering of the port holes isn't that appealing, again IMO  I would have installed 4 up higher, but EACH to his/her own.

Do you THINK Ben would have added the FAMOUS visor????  Maybe, Got to LOVE that Ben.

  3. I have done ENGINE TURNED panels.

I purchased my RUBBERIZED abrasive sticks on line, CHEAP I have found you can do this process without a jig,  A drill press works great, just a light touch of these 6" long sticks, less than $10.00.

You tube has videos on such tooooooooo!

  4. Speaking of ROCKING,,,,

In the 80's we owned a hardware store here in Indy.  One day while looking out the front door I noticed a wagon parked away from other cars, I noticed it was ROCKING.  It had curtains toooooooo, I kept watchin and soon a lady climbed out, brushed her skirt, and calmly walk a few rows over and got in her car and drove OFF.  I'm guessin that was the second OFF experience for her that afternoon, hehe

  5. Wishing you well, I'm sure you will find the REASON,  to often folks FIX the result, and don't address the REASON.

When you go thru Bloomington, Il on 66 know that I grew up there, and did a ton of top end racing on 66 between Bloomington, and Shirley Il.  That is a long straight stretch of wide open highway.  That was back in the mid 60's.  66 still goes through the city.

    Enjoy,

  6. Well, I didn't ever use a Riv as a tow car, but in 1968 I owned a new Cougar GT-E 427 side oiler car.

A neighbor and I started a part time sod laying business, and the GT-E was my tow piece.  We took a 3/4 ton truck bed and axle assembly and made it our sod hauling piece.

Less than 400 Cougars were made with the 427 side oiler, and one sold at BJ for $182,000.00 5 years ago.  You never see one offered for sale. Mine was BLACK CHERRY with the same interior.

P.S.  In the late 40's we went to a ton of Midget car races, I always loved seeing so many of them on single axle open trailers, what a cool site.  Lots of them with V-60's engines, and the rich guys with Offy's.

  7. I peek in to view Facebook now and then, mostly to read about family, friends.

Facebook has a net worth of 190 Billion, and WON'T be going away anytime soon.

It used to be PERSONAL, now BUSINESS has moved in, THAT has to tell you SOMETHING, IMO

A lot of forum's toooooooooo, have joined, and given them a ton more viewers/posters.

Just yesterday Mark's wealth jumped over 1-billion dollars with stock gaining value.

  8. Bride and I are reading to Michigan early in the morning.

Of course driving our 41 Limited.  70 plus MPH.  First stop is Flint, getting a private tour of Sloan museum at 1.  Since the Buick Bug is back on display I will be able to get up close and personal with it.  Some of you know I'm making a 1/4 scale model of it.  I need to add to my many photo's of it, missing is an overhead shot if the width provile.  David Langdon has provided to me many detailed measurements, and photo's, but this trip will help even more.  David will most likely be our guide, looking forward to meeting him for sure.  He has been so much help with this build.

Then later in the day we will visit Sharon's birth home in north Detroit.  Her parents the year she was born, 1940, built a new home for $3,000.00, bought a new Ford for $700.00, and she was born.  We did a satellite view of her home, and it appears to be a nice neighborhood.

Thursday we will hook up with Michigan friends of over 50 years.  Friday and Saturday us guys will attend the car show in Frankenmuth Michigan along a beautiful river.  Frankenmuth is a great city, the girls have lots planned, and we all meet up at night for a great meal together.

Sunday we will head south to Indy, COASTING all the way, it is downhill you know.  .hehe

Grandson's BD is Monday so can't miss that.

    Fun time, FUN IS GOOD!

P.S. This will be the first time folks will see the Sweep Spear I just installed.  It is an inspiration of the Brunn rendering of 1940, but was never built.  I love it.

  9. I was raised in Bloomington, Illinois from 1937 until I moved to Kankakee, Illinois in 1962,  That was my first of seven promotions with Tractor Supply.  I move to seven different cities over a period of 14 years.  Cashed out my stock options and went out on my own in 1976.

Dad was with Buick in the FITTY'S,  YOU KNEW THAT, hehe.  A local ARCA race driver, LES SNOW, aka TIGER SNOW in 1954-55 drove Buick sponsored cars.  I was a personal friend of TIGER, he was a rugged fellow, drove very aggressive, and won many races over lots of years.  He started out driving Hudson's, and did well.  He drove at Daytona too.  When he arrived in a race town, Buick would meet him at the local dealership and open the parts room for any parts he might need.

In one of the history books covering Buick history is a picture of him driving a Buick.  Without checking I believe the car number was 55.

I recall one of his Buick's where he experimented with running the exhaust through the frame, NO PIPING, that didn't work, sounded terrible, but he was one to try lots of things.  He helped me a ton in modifying my 57 injected Vette, the only Vette in town.

I was so proud back then of Buick getting heavy into racing.
