The key word is "located", Matt! W-e-e-e know where it REALLY originated!!

Can anyone de-code the Hayes tag to determine the body type, year, etc.?

Wish I could help you, Steve...........You're going to have a nice car when you get it done!
Good Luck!

Looks like a very nice car! Welcome aboard!!

A job well done by everyone...........but especially Barry, without his expertise & guidance the project wouldn't have been completed with such perfection!!
.........And Barry, thanks for taking us along on the journey. IMO, this was the most interesting thread on ANY forum I have read!!

My '30 Hupp "6" also has the rod that sticks up out of the left, front, of the block.....have had no trouble with it sticking.
-
Definately looks after market...........must fit a deeply grooved fender or door! (So would be model specific.)
-
Larry, I have done the same.........& the joy it brings to the kid's & parents faces is worth any possible scuffs to my 40 YO paint job. That's why I haven't re-painted yet!

Yup! Exhaust pipes...........

I have a 1913 Alco catalog & it doesn't seem to match...... (could be another year)

I don't know about the UX-2, but I got tired "nursing" my bad potmetal U-2 and went to the BB-1 & am quite satisfied...........

Don't fool yourself and your family into believing that your car is an "investment". You will put far more money into it than you will ever get out of it. It is a fun hobby that can be quite expensive when the time comes to actually sell the car for its true market value, or for when your heirs sell the car for its actual market value and you or they find that the selling price is only get a fraction of what you put into it or even what you had it appraised for. If you want an investment, go find some good stocks or bonds or such. If you want an expensive but loads of fun hobby - buy an old car and fix it up.
Everyone needs to print this out & be sure your "significant other".........or children.......read it!!

I agree 100% Dave. I have watched all of the episodes and would not miss it. I didn't know about the rebroadcast.
Ditto!!!

Doors are totally different on Hupp....squarer & come down all the way to the splash aprons .................
-
On the Hupp, I believe the headlights are higher (above the radiator) and the filler neck is very tall..............

Perhap's it's from a small Alco "yard" or "pusher" engine?
I have a 1913 Alco car catalogue and there's nothing remotely similar (including logo) to this engine........
By the way, in 1913 Alco bragged they were the most expensive auto in America!

!928-29 Hupmobile Model "M" 8 cylinder...........

I love the auto themed ones. Nice collection, Terry!

Me too, Keiser.....but........being in Iowa!

It can't be from Pimp My Ride. There isn't 900 tv screens or a waterfall in between the seats......
Only waterfall would be from the leaky diaper!!

You could have the other axle welded. My Grandfather broke an axle in 1949 and had it hammer welded by an old prairie blacksmith, It is still in the car (which now has 499,000 miles on it) and runs straight and true. The axle has outlasted three crown and pinions.
Amazing!

They had to be tough then, didn't they Larry!
Great picture!!

You guy's are correct.........definately a Model 20 Hupp.....note the tall radiator filler neck.....a definative Hupp characteristic.
