  2. My 1918 Buick was purchased as a disassembled project.  The parts were scattered around 3 floors of 2 buildings.  As a result, There are a few things missing or at least I havent found them yet.  As such I could use some pictures of what I am looking for.   First is running boards ( I have both fenders but nothing in between). It looks like there was some sort of bar connecting the headlights that isn't there.  Since the model I have is pretty unusual (I wont use the word rare, it is an E 4 37) , I don't expect to have pictures from the exact model but any from the same year (and a couple previous) may help.  I'm sure I will find a lot of other things missing as I go. Thank you all!!

    Do you know if there was a McLaughlin version?

    I do not.   I'm not even sure that the centerdoor was produced by Buick any other year.  I've seen Ford and Dodge in various years, but I'm looking for all the info on them I can find.

  4. I am now the proud owner of a 1918 4 cylinder centerdoor sedan project.  So far I am finding a distinct lack of information on the vehicle.  It is a disassembled project in progress.  I would like to know, first of all, is there anyone else out there that has one that I might be able to communicate with and maybe answer a few stupid questions as I progress with this project.   Currently, I am looking for 1. How tall is this car?   I will need to get a trailer to haul it in.  and 2 .  What colors are correct for this car?  It is currently in a medium green color that looks very attractive and I would love to keep if I can.  Thanks in advance for your help.

  5. They are still accepting applications for AACA Grand National Cars for the Class in the Concours.   I have also been told  that Cars that are not included in the AACA Class will be given every opportunity to enter in other concours classes where they may fit.   I am told That they are working a couple special events for AACA members to enhance your concours experience.   We will have people there for membership, events etc.  but we still could use some more CARS.

    So if you have a car that is a Grand National first or above and would be available, go on the HHI website and fill out the application.   Since they do not list this class , you will need to include that the car is an AACA Grand national winner in the description or narrative.  This is a great opportunity for you and for the club.  Please consider signing up!!   If you have any questions contact Dave Anspach or Hulon McCraw!!

  6. I am looking at a 1931 Tudor.   It has been setting for 10+ years in inside storage, not running but the old running when parked assumption applies.  Body and interior both look pretty good. Not perfect but usable for a temporary time period.  Everything looks dirty with spider webs dust etc. Body has some surface rust spots but nothing serious.  I know nothing about these cars.  Any suggestions as to what to look for and an idea of value?  Thank you in advance.

  7. After a little Cooperative work, I am pleased to announce that the Hilton Head Concours has added a new class this year.  The name and description of the class is "Grand National Cars of the AACA". The class is open for consideration of any car that has won a Grand National First or above.  You will enter through the normal Hilton Head entry system.

    Selection of the cars for the show will be done  by the Concours committee in a few months.  Those cars selected will be able to show in the concours and be judged for concours awards.  Cars may also be selected to other concours classes if you are interested.

    The effort is being headed up by Hulon McCraw and Dave Anspach.  If you want any more information contact either one of us.    For the link to enter, it can be found on the concours website, or contact Dave Anspach at AACADAVE1054@yahoo.com

  8. Ben;

         Your Group has done some National Tours in the past, so you have some experience to draw on.   The divisional Tour is a little more liberal in its allowances than any of the others so you may consider it over the others.   I have been in touch with Mr. Bacon of your Region  (that is if I am correct in my assumption that RMR means Rocky Mountain Region) on the subject.   I'm happy to assist you in any way I can to make a tour happen!!

  9. Great looking truck!!   You have a great year to be starting with an antique in the AACA.  Youve got the show in Charlotte NC a few hours South in April, the show in Gettysburg in May, Norwich NY in July and Hershey in October.  A great year for a central Pa guy to get immersed in AACA showing.   And don't forget to join a Region and participate in their activities!

  10. I am searching for whatever information, pictures, etc. on Datson (son of Dat) early post war vehicles. There was a line started in late 47 or early 48 as the DB-1, which evolved into a number of improvements as DB2 up to DB7. The early ones (DB-1 and lesser so the rest of the series) appear to be direct copies of the CC model Crosleys of 46-48. The story I have been given is that They got ahold of a Crosley and copied the body using their running gear. The story goes that Powel Crosley protested but was told by the war dept that he would have to accept it as the USA was eager to get Japan rebuilt after the war. I am also told that there are NO remaining DB1 models in existance. Any information that anyone has will be appreciated.
  11. The owner is a new AACA member and that was his first show.  He was unsure as to where his car belonged so he submitted it for judging on recommendation of the judging group.   If it needs to be changed, I am sure he will be happy to do so.   In the meantime, he was thrilled just to be on a showfield with the AACA!!   He is already working with a group to possibly form a new region!!

  12. Don't have all of them named but;

    1951 Crosley Hotshot...My first Crosley- Norman after my best friend in College who first mentioned a Crosley to me

    1948 Crosley Convertible- Jay, after a lifetime family friend

    1950 Crosley Hotshot Super- Named Amelia by my wife who told me on the day we bought it that we would show it there someday!!

  13. I had to get to an unplanned meeting on Thursday morning over in the red field.   I've been having some problems with my left hip so by the time I got to the apple cider booth on the chocolate field on my hike back to headquarters, I was hurting pretty bad.   Gordon Wolfe of the Hershey Region , who was working at the stand, noticed my limp and took his time to give me a ride back to my truck.  Going above and beyond is what makes people appreciate the Hershey experience!!

  14. Charlier;

            Should one of the Western or Central Regions come forward to fill the blank spots in the schedule, and should they decide they can do it in time for 2023, it would be taken under consideration.  It has become a real struggle to get any Region or Chapter to think over a year in advance.  The needs to plan by those that work and need the notice for vacation is understood, however, it seems the pandemic and economy have made people change the way they think and plan.  I can assure you however, that notice WILL be published as soon as there is anything official and final!!

  15. Charlier,

         We have 4 or 5 different regions that have expressed interest in and have begun working on doing a Nationals in the Central Division in the next 2 years.   They are working on a location, host hotel, dates, activities, etc for their event.  Until they have worked things out and officially apply for an event there is no announcement to make to the membership, just that there is hope for some more events.  I have been asking, pleading, cajoling, etc both Central and Western Division Regions to hold both Nationals and Tours.   I have gotten the answer "we are too old, to tired, too few members, etc more times than I can count!   If you have a way to get Regions to step up, Please share it with me.

          On the subject of the Grand National, the location was changed in the last few weeks and will now be at an indoor facility in Bettendorf, just across the River from East Moline.   New host Hotel has been named also.  This was done for a number of logistic reasons including costs to the region.  As West said the dates are the same.

          To everyone, If you have ideas on regions or Chapters that may be willing to hold a Nationals or a Tour, Please feel free to contact me!! (AACADave@yahoo.com) .  There are a lot of openings still to be filled.   The National will work with you to make your event a successful one!!

    There is an HPOF Class at all AACA Nationals except for the Grand Nationals.  The online calendar isn't updated for 2023 yet, but it's published in the last issue of Antique Automobile.

    January 26-28, 2023: Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, FL

    April 13-15, 2023: Charlotte, NC

    May 18-20, 2023: Gettysburg, PA

    July 28-29, 2023: Norwich, NY

    October 3-6, 2023: Hershey, PA

    There are actually several other Nationals in the works at this time, but they are not published until finalized and approved.   Due to the Covid, and Gas situations, people are a bit slow to lock in their events.  The National Activities is working hard on getting them on the schedule...stay tuned!!

  17. Saw this car at Nationals this year (That's my wife's Hotshot on the right in the first picture).   It has undergone extensive modification and there is not a lot of pre war content left.  The original 2 cylinder engine is gone and what is left is very rough.  There were more than 10 times the number of postwar cars made compared to prewar.  The number is argued many times.  About 75-80 thousand post war cars.  Quite a few prewars have come out of the woodwork recently ( I just saw a very rare Liberty Sedan for sale) including the 1942 I bought.

    If anyone is interested in a Crosley, I would advise you to first become associated with the Crosley Auto Club.  We are a family friendly group that really helps each other.  It will save you time, money, and heartache!!
