  1. Thanks for all of the advice. I had already replaced the glove box because I did not have a key for it. Also I did not get a key for the ignition and door locks. As most already know you really do not need an ignition key to start the car. Nice security feature!! I pulled the ignition lock today. I was unable to locate any numbers on it. Also, I can not be sure if it is original or not. The removal of the door lock set looks like quite alot of work. Any short cuts? Thanks

  2. I have a 41 GM and do not have keys to lock the doors. This has not been an issue since I have never left the car unattended. What is my best solution? Thanks

  3. Congratulations you have a 1941 Special Touring Sedan. Dual or singl carb? I have a model 41 with the upgrade of a dual carb, radio, clock etc. Your car was built in Flint Michigan as designated by the 1 in the begining of the VIN number. The 900 Trim number relates to tan and gray bedford cord material. Your engine number should start with a 4 which designates the 40 series.

A must have book is Restoration Facts 1941 Buickby William C. Anderson. The book is a great resource of information for the 1941 Buick.

  4. Thanks for the reply. If the engine is black and a replacement, does the year of the engine matter as long as it is the correct size for the car model? Are replacement engine codes for model years as well?

  5. I am looking for a 1940 Buick. I have noticed that the engine colors vary from black to gray to light blue. What is the correct color for a 40? Did Buick change engine color during production as it did in 41? Thanks
