  1. One in my collection of six 1956 Chrysler Imperials. I also have a 1951 Imperial 2-dr hardtop, and a 1951 Imperial convertible.
  2. I am willing to depart somewhat from factory is it's for safety or significantly increases reliability. I have a 1951 Chrysler Imperial 2-dr hardtop that has the front disc brake conversion.. I can really feel the difference stopping the car, and I like that. We didn't add power assist, by the way. I think I have a photo here somewhere.....
  3. I have had this car sitting here for five years, and now we are actually beginning the restoration. I have started collecting missing pieces and other stuff---like a disc brake conversion kit for the front wheels. As always there are a few pieces that are missing, such as the gravel guards on the front of the back fenders, and decisions to be made about the exterior color---probably the factory off-white color--and the interior--probably medium gray-blue leather. Maybe with broadcloth, following the factor pattern, or maybe all leather. The hemi seems to be in very good shape--I was told it had been rebuilt by the guy I bought the care from. We'll see. Anyone of you who are currently restoring an old Mopar like mine? Or have recently restored one? Any of you have a 1951 Imperial convertible? I have attached a couple of photos..... Wish me luck Jon jyinger1@gmail.com
  4. Here is a YouTube video of Lily---the frame-off restoration of my 1949 Cadillac Fleetwood. Let me know what you think! Jon
  5. The 14-month frame-off restoration of Lily, my 1949 Cadillac Fleetwood, is done!! Every nut and bolt is either new or refurbished. Even the clock works. I am trying to attach a couple of photos--so far I have not been able to do that. In any event, you can read the whole story (with photos) at: www.yingercars.shutterfly.com My next project is is frame-off restoration of Buttercup, my 1949 Cadillac Coupe Deville. Jon Yinger
  6. I put all the PS parts from a '53 Cadillac PS on my '49 Cad. It works great. Then on my '51 Chrysler Imperial I tried something different. After collecting all of the PS parts from a '52 Imperial, I changed course, and put on rack-and-pinion with an electric (!!) PS pump from a late model Toyota MR2. It works great, and I didn't have to hassle with new pulleys, brackets, etc. to run the PS pump off of the engine. Over-all it cost less than what I had first planned. Not counting what I paid for the '52 Imperial parts. Just a thought. Jon Yinger jyinger1@gmail.com
  7. Best looking Chrysler ever made..... Are you sure? '56 Imperial (photo attached)
  8. Three more photos of the Blue Baron---frame-off restoration
  9. It's done! It's done!! Here are a few photos taken this week. I may go back in a few days and show more of the photos of the car's restoration as it progressed.
  10. It's done! It's done! I'll upload photos as soon as I figure out how...... I tired, but it failed. missing security token ????
  11. I have just sent two current photos of progress on my project. I hope they upload OK. Jon
  12. Latest photos of the Southampton 4-dr restoration project.
  13. Sandblasted. When we did the trunk, what appeared to be a mostly in-tact trunk area ended up looking like Swiss cheese. So we had to rebuilt the trunk area. As you see in the photos.
  14. Here are photos showing the drivetrain, the disc brakes front and rear, and the new differential
  15. I have no Idea where that family photo came from. I would like to remove it and include instead a photo of the drive train, but I have no idea how to do that. Suggestions?
  16. Frame-off restoration. Six months in. Drive train is virtually complete, body is almost done (finishing the doors right now), then we refit everything (fenders, deck lid, hood, doors, etc.), tweak where necessary. And then partially disassemble. Then paint. And upholstery. And trim (chrome and stainless work are supposed to be ready in a couple of weeks). Getting close!! I'd attach photos if I could figure our how to do it. Wish me luck.
