Sarah posing with mom's '73 VW before the 2005 Branford Memorial Day Parade

We like to drive an old car or two in our town's annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day Parades. It is a privilege to be able to help pay respect to our country's soldiers, many of whom have paid the ultimate price for the freedom we all enjoy. Here is our daughter Sarah posing with Diane's 1973 VW Super Beetle Convertible, parked near Branford (CT) Town Hall, just before the start of this year's Memorial Day Parade, Monday morning, May 30, 2005. Not too visible is our miniature poodle Lana--the little "black shadow" in the foreground (yes, the dogs always come with us in the cars for the parades!).

Other antique autos staged for the parade in the background include Pat & Pete Black's white 1964 Alfa Romeo, and Myron Beaudoin's red/white top 1970 Chevy Impala. Hope eventually to get around to writing up a full report on this year's Branford Memorial Day Parade antique auto participation for the Shoreline Antique Auto Connection web site.

It is also worth mentioning that Pete Black marched with the veterans in this parade, while his wife Pat drove the Alfa. Pete is a reserve Navy "Seabee" and just got back from his stint in Iraq on Good Friday, 2005; having served honorably over there since September 2004--welcome back Pete!
