Guest imported_spitfireal
Hello all,Just wondering if anyone has a Canadian workshop manual that could decode the serial number on a Canadian built 1962 (I think) D100. The Canadian serial number seems to be completely different than the American ones listed in the Standard Catalogue. Serial number is 2162935910.Thanks!Allan

Guest imported_Bill-W
Canadian truck serial numbers were a little different from the U.S. before 1966.The serial number - 2162935910 - decodes as :2 - Convential cab1 - D-100 ½-ton model6 - 6-cylinder engine2 - "S" series - used for 1962 through 1965 model years9 - Windsor (Tecumseh Avenue) plant35910 - number started at 10001 for 1962 model year, then -20001 - first 1963 model truck30001 - first 1964 model truck45001 - first 1965 model truck"35910" would thus be the 5,910th 1964 model truck built. The amber turn signal lenses would be correct for a 1963-65 Dodge/Fargo truck, but not a 1962 model.1960 was the last year it was possible to tell a Canadian-built Dodge truck from a Canadian-built Fargo truck - a 6 cylinder Dodge was "1", Fargo "3" while the V8 models were "2" for Dodge and "4" for Fargo.BillVancouver, BC
Guest imported_Bill-W
Forgot to ask - what is the engine number? It is stamped on a machined boss located at the top of the block just below the #1 cylinder. It is probably blocked by the alternator. Alternators did not become standard equipment on Canadian-built vehicles until the 1963 model year, by the way. And that includes Valiants.BillVancouver, BC
Rusty_OToole
Is that the flathead 6? Did they offer different flathead 6's? Heard they used the 265 cu in Chrysler Windsor engine until 62 and also the 230 cu in Dodge. 127HP sounds more like the big 6.
Guest imported_Bill-W
The ½-ton Dodge/Fargo trucks adopted the slant six in 1961. The 230-cid flathead six was not available in a Canadian-built Chryco product after 1937. The only flathead 6 Chrysler of Canada used after 1955 would have been the 251.BillVancouver, BC
