Heffman
I was wondering if anyone knew what/where the biggest classic car shows in the U.S. are?
Guest Chuck Conrad
You just missed the CCCA Grand Classic and Experience in Hickory Corners, MI. It's always the first weekend of June and well worth visiting. There are a couple of hundred cars in the Museum, and the shows had about 90 CCCA Full Classics on Saturday. There were well over 100 cars for the Experience on Sunday.Assuming you are defining Classic Cars by the CCCA definition, then Meadowbrook (Detroit area) or Pebble Beach are two of the biggest and best. Of course, they show cars that are not CCCA Classics as well. Most CCCA Grand Classics have between 40 and 80 Classics. They are intentionally not huge events, but the quality is always very high.If you want to just see tons of old cars, Classics and others, the AACA National Meet in Hershey, PA is hard to beat. This year, it's the week of October 6-8. There are usually about 1800 cars on the judging Field on Saturday, and hundreds for sale in the car corral. Add a few thousand vendor booths in swap meet, and a couple of major league auctions, and it is possible to nearly overdose on old cars.
Guest normandie
I don't believe it's "the biggest," but one of the finest car shows featuring foreign and domestic Classics, antiques and sports cars is the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles. It's held at Glenmoor Country Club near Canton, OH. The 2004 dates are September 18-19. A great setting and great cars. Check their web site at www.glenmoorgathering.com
Guest Chuck Conrad
Although our cars are quite often "bigger" our shows aren't always huge. But I'll take quality over quantity. That's one of the unique attributes of CCCA.
Samb2
Come to Västerås in Sweden the first weekend in July. Then theres a real old american car show. Over 10.000 (ten thousand) old american cars, 4km of selling boards, and people, people people... (and beer)!
gearboy
Samb2 -- For those of us Yanks unwilling to bolt pontoons on our Packards, would you post a few photos of this Swedish extravaganza? Thanks! [color:\\"black\\"]
Idle Swede
Just to clarify, when he mentions "Old Cars" they are mostly from the 60's & 70's

gearboy
Samb2 --- This is a site for fans of the finer cars of 1925-42 (and a few unchanged, carryover [color:\\"black\\"] exceptions through '48). So it looks like your event's a mite new for us. I thought, out of "10,000 cars," we might've seen a few prewar survivors. It's always nice to see how 60-80-year-old genuine Classics have survived around the world. I've sold parts to owners of Full Classic Packards in Scandinavia. All best. Guest Chuck Conrad
I was in Stockholm on the 21st of June one year. That?s the longest day of the year and quite a national holiday in Sweden. It seemed like EVERYBODY was driving some kind of collectable vehicle. Admittedly 50?s & 60?s American cars were predominant, but, there was no shortage of cars that qualify as CCCA Full Classics. Better yet, most of them were being driven by people who looked like they were having a great time. It was wonderful viewing.
