crazycars
Working on pretty nice 1936 Desoto with badly delaminated windshields. Has the V style, two pane glass, which is fixed (not crank open). No one seems to have this style windshield gasket. Have tried Steele, Bernbaum, Roberts. Surely someone out there has encountered this problem and has found a source for this type windshield gasket. All leads appreciated. crazycars
Purchased generic windshield gasket rubber, sold by the foot, from Lynne Steele. Worked out very well. Cost around $65. I used a good layer of black silicone caulk when installing and it proved to be a watertight installation.
VW4X4
Sounds like you figured out what I did years ago. By eliminating the metal chrome parts you can use a generic piece of window rubber. I used the same stuff that is used on the rest of the car. It has a lip to the outside. The glass then has to be over sized slightly to fit properly. Unfortunately removing the chrome does not look as nice, but you do what you have to do to keep the car moving.
