For sale: 1929 Model L Sport Phaeton by Locke

1 post in this topic

Before it goes live on our website, here's our latest offering, a 1929 Lincoln Model L Sport Phaeton with body by Locke. It's a former CCCA national first prize winner, scoring 99 out of 100 points at a recent event. Restored to a very high standard, it has been driven very little since it was completed. The body and paint are as close to flawless as any car we've represented, and the leather interior shows only slight usage, mostly on the driver's seat. It drives beautifully, thanks to a recent tune-up by Dave Heinrich of Heinrich's Vintage Car Shop here in Cleveland.

The only possible demerits on the car are the aforementioned "comfort marks" on the driver's seat and some slight UV damage to the exposed wood bows of the top on either side of the back seat, and I mean slight. And as is typical of cars like this, the clock isn't working (do they ever?). Otherwise there's not much to fault, and it's as nice underneath as it is up top. Easily #2+, perhaps even #1- condition.

Honestly, I'm stunned by what bargains these Lincolns are. If this were a Packard Super 8 phaeton with a custom body, it would easily be a $150-180,000 car. This one is available for $119,900, which is most likely less than the cost of the restoration itself. This is a whole lot of Classic for not a lot of money (relatively speaking, anyway).

Personally, I flat-out love this car.
