Guest ebruns1
Greetings fellas!I have been on the AACA forum most recently in the Model A section, but just sold it to a nice young fella who is going to work on it with his grandpa who is restoring another Model A. Now its on to bigger and better, a 1940 D2 series pickup! I was only able to purchase all the sheet metal and have some questions for the esteemed knowledgeable IHC community. 1. I can't seem to find the wheel size and was looking at Vintique replacement rims, just need correct size.2. Anyone know of sources (other than eBay and Craigs) for running boards? Are the K6 or K7 series interchangeable or reasonably close to the D2's?3. What wheel-base were the woody wagons built on? The short bed 117" or the long bed 125" frame?4. Does anyone make replacement front and rear fenders? Would a Chevy fender work, it looks pretty close but I'm not sure about the mounting holes.5. Has anyone tried to drop a D2 on a Renger or S10 frame, because there doesn't seem to be many parts available for these and I hope I'm not taking on a huge project to get this thing running again. I'm not sure I'd ever find a replacement frame, and it might be more expensive to upgrade to disc brakes and IFS by the time I'm done. Wanted a modern-ish engine anyway so...6. Anyone see an online owners manual or spec sheet on the D series? Trying to see what parts I'm missing and how the fenders and sheet metal goes back together. Any diagrams would be very helpful!PS - I may have some duplicate parts that I will list once I'm further along to help anyone else with their projects. Thanks folks, appreciate any info you can pass along to a newbie! Love the D2, even if it is just a pile of parts so far.Jim

Fleek
Also try http://travelallparts.com they have a section devoted to the D series. Good luck on your project and keep us posted. Pictures are always welcome. For some reason this link takes you to their sister site, so look on the left for the travelall/truck link.
