Guest speegt
I'm gonna remove the engine and trans from 89 reatta what's the best way can I do it from above I have an engine lift.thanks
KDirk
Best way to do it is drop it from the bottom by detaching the entire cradle with the car elevated. That is how it was designed to come out. However, unless you have a rack this isn't possible. Powertrain can be pulled out the top but requires a lot more work and disassembly to do. The hood, some brackets, steering, engine mounts, CV axles and all kinds of other stuff have to be disconnected and/or removed. Major project for sure.I would find someone locally who is experienced and query them if possible as this is not something to be attempted without the right tools and knowledge. D-a-n-i-e-l
I have pulled the engine both ways. It take about the same time either way in a garage without a lift. If you pull it out the top remove the radiator to save yourself the heartache of bending fins. In a garage without a second person I would recommend out the top with removal of the hood.
