Oil used for generator, water pump, etc?

What oil is everyone using for their water pump, generator, distributer, etc on these old cars? The only description I can find is "light oil". Not sure what that is.

Thanks!

I recommend synthetic motor oil for the distributor, generator and for general oiling. The generator only requires a few drops of oil at each oil change, do not over oil, it can gum up the generator.

Water pumps use water pump grease, if you can't get it, use a marine grease made for the bottom end of outboard motors. Again, do not over do it. 1/2 pump at each oil change is lots. Too much can gum up your cooling system and radiator.

There is also a miscible oil or water pump lubricant you can put in your radiator. It used to come in little bitty cans at the gas station, you don't see it anymore. I don't know what it was made of.

Thanks for the help.... I think that the 1950 Dodge Owner's Manual said to add drops of oil to this water pump. I'll have to check that again...
