rocketraider
That's pretty generalized but check tune-up specs, spark plug gap, dwell angle and timing. Also check for vacuum leaks around carb base or vacuum taps on the engine. If you're describing sluggish takeoff from a stop, these cars have what is known as a "Switch-Pitch" transmission. The blade angle in the torque converter changes according to throttle opening and if the blades are stuck in wrong position at idle the car will be very sluggish taking off from a stop.I suggest also joining up at www.classicoldsmobile.com as there is a lot of knowledge there and it is Oldsmobile-specific.
