1970--what kind of material for the package shelf?

Putting my 1970 Wildcat 4-dr. ht. back together. Since it came from west Texas by way of Arizona, the package shelf material was long gone when I got it. It was done in by the sun and the leaky back glass. Can someone with a 1969 or 1970 full-sized Buick tell me whether it takes the woven package shelf material or the painted cowlboard (cardboard)?

I decided to phone 1970 Wildcat expert Francis Urbain in Indianapolis--he knows those cars backwards and forwards. He says the package shelf is the woven material. Does anyone know where to get that material?

Pete,

Sounds like the same/similar material that was used on Chevys and Pontiacs. A decent reproduction of this package tray "mesh" is available from repro places like Impala Bob, Year One, etc. Be sure to specify the "mesh" type (typically on Caprice), not the plain cardboard (typically on Impala and BelAir). You will likely have to order a tray large enough that you can cut it down to the correct 70 Buick size.
