1957Birdman Posted May 18, 2014 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Hi Bob,I looked in the parts book and unfortunately I can't tell if the part was bent like yours originally. It seems to me like the bend would affect the angle of the shift lever in the car and not the linkage connection. Before you took it out was the shifter straight up and down or was it cocked to the right or left? Mine it cocked 5 to 10 degrees right of vertical as I the drivers seat. That is the way it is with all the cars I've seen. I wouldn't do any bending since if you break it you will have to find a used one to replace it.
