  1. I was nervous for no reason. Pulled the rubber grommet under the assembly and removed the assembly. Learned something today and got it all cleaned up. Waiting on the bulbs. Not in big D anymore so it’s a hour drive to a Lowe’s so $2.99 shipping from rockauto is less than the gas. Thanks again for the information and enjoy the ride.
  2. Thanks again for opening my tunnel vision!
  3. Thanks Barney and as usual I have a tough time typing my thoughts. The problem I’m having is what you said “and have the assembly off the car”. I’m unable to understand how to get the assembly of the car. From reading other discussions on this subject I’m thinking the rubber seal underneath has to come off. I’m unable to understand how to remove the assembly after removing the first two screws. Being a member of this forum has been a wonderful experience in finding information for the six I have owned since 01. So much knowledge provided by folks like you, Ronnie, Dave..and so many others. I don’t want to damage the assembly guessing at what to do next and this is the best way to gain the knowledge. 🙂. Bruce
  4. Have electric problem light on instrument cluster. My 3rd brake light Or high level brake light want light up and I have been reading about replacement. I got the two screws out and unable to figure out how to remove the assembly to change bulbs. Reading several discussions I’m confused and don’t understand the process. Not enough slack to pull it over an inch. One discussion talked about removing the rubber seal. Here are pics of what I’m looking at after removing the two screws. I’m hoping that this is a understandable question. I do have the 891 bulbs on order as I get this car ready to sell.
  5. Hello everyone in the Reatta discussion forum. My name is Bruce Guthrie and I have the wonderful car on eBay. I was advised about statements being made about my car and thus I'm putting this posting out. Here at this forum we are people who love the car and love talking about the car. Then a member makes statements which piont to the nature of humans of finding something negative to say. I'm thankful someone whom I meet on this fourm gave me a call when they read the comments. Yes you did see this car at Plano and yes you did talk and spend time laughing with me that day. Then you go on this forum and advise people of it's problems. As for door dings there maybe one or two and it's a USED car. As for the motor yes it's not detailed. Boy was that a place to be in 2004. My first BCA event and 400 point and my engine had never been detailed. The other Reatta members also made statements about the engine. I told everyone that day I feel it's an engine under a hood. It moves the car down the road. Clean.. I don't waste my time there. In the eBay listing I state it wasn't clean enough to eat off. Reading the post I understand why I'm not part of this forum and the Reatta Club. I just don't play that way. The comments hurt and they were not called for. When I saw who stated these comments I was suprised. That ID is a fellow whom I meet at the Plano event and would have never thought such words would be printed on a forum. Please someone in Dallas come look at the car and tell this forum what you see. I need and want this done as I don't like my 60 being talked about with such words and I can't stand up for it or me. Why say anything negative about another members car. Anyone who has a Select Sixty is a Reatta lover! Also the blue book I call it is the offical book for the Select Sixty of 1989. It holds the letter on one side and has a picture of the car on the other side. It's blue vinyl/leather look with the words in gold. I'm so proud of this car and it hurts to have fellow members make negative comments. Yall are rough and one of the reasons I'm ant a member any longer. Statements on a page create feelings inside people which may not have been the thought. It's a fact. like the walmart way.... I feel this car is worth more than the 15000.00 reserve. I have a 79 Eldorado with 8900 miles and it's all I want anymore. maybe. Bruce Guthrie

The comments are on a topic about no convertibles on eBay are something like that. I will take this and copy/paste to the one which started this new topic. 7. thanks! Will check it out in the morning. Bruce
  8. I have a 90 model which started something new today. When I put it in drive no movement unless I run the RPM up and then it's like the brake is on. When I put it in reverse it act just fine. Moves my thoughts away from the brakes to the transmission. Looking for knowledge. That's what I have always enjoyed about this site. And the fact I love Reatta's.
  9. I have decided to put this car up for sale here where I found it. We bought a house and I have too many cars. Over the past 5 years I have had 4 Reatta's and each one has been special. This one is the most special of them all but I don't care for the ride of a convertible. Having never owned a convertible I find it's nothing like the coupe. There is nothing wrong with the car it's just not the same. I do enjoy the fact it's one of 65 and has all documentation from original owner. I am the 2nd owner and have put maybe 500 miles on the car since purchase 07/01/2002. Mileage is between 58-59,000. Car is wonderful and did win Bronze at the 2004 BCA in Plano Texas. Car is located in Dallas Texas with original home Modesto CA. NO rust No problems with car and both headlight motors are new GM parts. All books and the special Select Sixty letter in blue binder with picture are included. Also window sticker and a show room catalog of the 1990 lineup. Asking $16,000.00 bng1959@aol.com Bruce Guthrie
  10. I have enjoyed driving these wonderful automobiles for the past three years. I enjoy my coupe everyday and on trips. Leave the C230 sedan in the garage because the Reatta is more fun. My everyday car is the 3rd one I have owned(Select Sixty is not included) and the best of the three. It has 95xxx miles and is tight and solid. On Christmas Eve while as I crossed under a RR overpass I was pelted with rocks. The major damage was to the windshield. The kid took off down the tracks and at 43 I wasn't ready to run after him. Thus started my first part of the next learning curve. I called my agent and was advised I didn't carry anything for glass breakage or vandalism. That has been changed. Then I started the next leg to find a windshield. My first stop was here where there are SO many good things listed. I picked a subject on windshield and there saw the $$ amounts for the first time. I sent Mike an email about his used replacement windshield and then went to the web for the big search. I live in Dallas Texas and had NO luck finding the windshield. Guess because I didn't have a Insurance Company behind me. I got a reply from Mike and we connected and I bought one from him. We, Reatta owners, have someone who cares and enjoys this wonderful car. Mike & Randy were a pleasure to deal with and I have a new/used windshield. When it comes to finding parts for our cars I see people like Mike and Randy as our positive source. These guys like the car like we do and they are not out to rip us off. These are my thoughts from what I have seen and experienced over the past couple years. I enjoy this discussion forum and all the knowledge I have gained. Bruce Guthrie 90 Select Sixty 90 Gunmetal Gray Coupe
  11. Thanks Barney. I want one for my Select Sixty. Sound like WeatherShield would be a good one for Texas. To bad it's not in flame red...smile. Bruce Guthrie 90 Gray Coupe 90 Select Sixty

    Caliper Bolts

You know it's a small world when someone else has the same two Reatta's & one is the 1 of 65 Select Sixty. Now if I can only find the answer to the rattle on the gray baby. These cars are wonderful!

    Caliper Bolts

I read the information GM Ross posted a few months back and placed a order for 4 of the kit. Last Wednesday I did the front left as I felt it was the problem child. Still have the rattle but it does seem to have changed. Will do the front right soon to see it that stops it. My father and I did the first one. He said no to helping with the second one. Said that if problem doesn't go away then no need to continue. I still hear the rattle and so do other people. Makes the car sound like a piece of junk to me and others have asked my why my car rattles. One day it will be solved! These cars are wonderful and the knowledge shared on these pages makes them a pleasure to own. This is my fourth Reatta and the first to have this issue. C D Player fix?

I have found that turning the power off and then after a few seconds back on with CD insterted works. When I got this car in April the CD player wouldn't play or keep a CD. I found a CD cleaner at Office Max and after 4 or 5 rejects of cleaning CD it started playing.
