Frame off restored car so way to tell what the color originally was, that's why I am trying to decode this. Currently the car is a metallic blue-gray gray something like Castle Grey. Every book I find says the first digit is the top followed by a 2 digit paint code, sounds simple. So 4 is a blue convertible top, B is castle Grey, X is Sylvan Grey (what's 145 refer to??) with a an Ivory and Black interior. That doesn't seem like a very plausible combination. Mike

I have read the trim books, even went to the Buick Gallery for research. Can anybody tell me what this paint code means? Also the "S" at the end of the trim code. Thanks, Mike

I have read the entire thread with interest in the "BX" paint code, here is a trim tag I am trying to decode. Particularly questions are the paint code 4BX145 and the S at the end of the trim code 730S. Thanks Mike

Thanks for the information guys. What I know about the photo is that it is of the Stewart family in Flint, MI in front of their home. The house looks the same today and is in wonderful condition, in a nice neighborhood. "SS" Samuel Sidney Stewart was a banker and owner of WF Stewart Coach building company. Perhaps they built the body for Mr. Stewart's personal car?
