My mechinic at the Buick dearlership gave me a pin to check the wiring harness.

He claims that if the pins are all tight in the unit then the wiring harness is the problem.

I have a broblem with the display going blank once in a great while when i'm driving.

I stop and shut it off, restart and everything is good.

Also clean the chip on the key and spray some electrical cleaner in the the Ing switch. Dirt can sometines cause this problem.

Not sure if you're looking for a shop for repairs, but if you are....

When I lived in Midlothian (now in WV), Southerntronics ?(auto electronics shop near Hampton Inn out by C'field town center) diagnosed and repaired cluster in my 1990. They did a good job. Diagnosed problem and provided accurate estimate before pulling from dash.

Frank,

As per our conversation, I forgot about Southern Autotronics when it comes to electronic items....I had heard great reviews about them, but when I took my radio to them for repair I had to take it back...still was not totally right, but got tired of the back and forth...it was passable...Their shop is right down the street from you...might be worth looking in to....they are rather expensive also As discussed....I would give Jim Finn a shot first <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. Just my thoughts...explore all options.
