Studebiker59
I'm looking for 9" brake drums (rear) for my 59 Lark that might be from a modern (late model) car. Has anyone done any swaping out or interchanging these drums with a modern car's drums? I'd really like to avoid a shipping charge and get these locally if I can. Thanks. jjfourstar
Howdy;I have a couple brake drums, backing plates and shoes from a 64 Commander. But really what I'd do is what I did and go to www.turnerbrakes.com and put disc brakes all around, set it up for power brakes and forget the old single pot, antique brakes. Now I like to keep the car "original" but if you gonna drive it, get practical and "BE SAFE",put modern brakes on it, U won't be sorry.JJfourstar
Guest stude8
I have a friend with a 1962 Hawk and it had rear drums (10" ??) that had Ford part numbers on them but I didn't keep a record of the number. They had been slipped onto the Studebaker hubs which had the same 4 1/2" circle 5 bolt pattern.Probably a Ford drum of that age is just as hard to find as a Studebaker now days. You might just as well order some from Standard Surplus in South Bend. Stude8
