  1. Howdy 28Dictator; Keith I have a 29 Dictator 4 dr, the fellow retro-mod'd it W/a 64 Stude running gear. He screwed up the steering so I added a steering rack to the 2" drop front axle, standard steering, 4 wheel power disc brakes.Had to bolt the rack to the front axle, unisteer did the rack. Has real wire wheels, twin sidemounts, it's a real headturner. I can appreciate you wanting to keep it original, but I restored a 56 Divco milk truck in about 1990 and it was original, a lot cheaper and a truck is a lot simpler. Would do a lot of things different, especially if you plan on driving this some. 1st is the brakes, much better to have modern brakes, going is easy, stopping is someone's life possible. And yes I need a couple inside door handles, pot metal and brittle and broken. Also need the speedo rebuilt but a bear to get too. I personally don't feelbad about retro mode a car, keep the outside original, but make it drivable and drive it don't let it set or make it a trailer Queen. John jjfourstar
  2. Howdy; I have a hood from a 29 Dictator, just bought the car, guy sent a spare hood, let me check it out as it is still wrapped. jjfourstar@gmail.com
  3. Howdy; Checking your pics, identical to my 29 Dictator, GEW-3, whch I bought from a fellow in Washington state and is modified. The body, interior, exterior is original, but has a 64 289, and trans, and TT rear end, and 4W disc brakes, wire wheels.and new steering but I'll change to a power rack.. It has "A" headlights and tail lights and a trunk. Nice car, looks good, he did get a couple of trophies with it. I'd say if you want it to be a "Trailer Queen" leave it original, good luck in finding parts; otherwise ,if you want to drive it..make it safe and enjoyable but keep the look original. JJfourstar
  4. Howdy; I have one wood spoke but it's about in the same shape and It's keep in the sidemount as the other's were in bad shape. The fellow that restored my 29 switched to a later model(64)Studebaker rear and a solid front axle and put after market wire wheels on it. Looks nice and is modified(also changed engines) and is a nice driver but you have to realze the car is almost 80 years old,a lot of us willbe lucky if were still here at 80. jjfourstar
  5. Howdy; I have a couple brake drums, backing plates and shoes from a 64 Commander. But really what I'd do is what I did and go to www.turnerbrakes.com and put disc brakes all around, set it up for power brakes and forget the old single pot, antique brakes. Now I like to keep the car "original" but if you gonna drive it, get practical and "BE SAFE",put modern brakes on it, U won't be sorry. JJfourstar
