TWO authentic Duesenberg Model J project cars for sale. Probably the last two original frame unfinished vehicles in existence! Parts for both vehicles personally sorted in early December by Duesenberg expert Brian Joseph of Classic And Exotic Vehicles of Troy,Michigan. Photo CD of each project available around mid December. Project #1: J-183,Long wheelbase Frame # 2201. The old Jim Hoe car. Restored frame and running gear to show standards by Dee Howard. Frame in primer. Includes original frame relengthened to long wheelbase status,as Jim Hoe shortened it to 125 inch in the 1950s when he raced the car in New England. Also includes original and restored axles,brakes/hubs/wheels/tires,steering column, correct original Warner T-72 Hi Flex transmission and clutch, correct 4 fenders, dash, firewall and the engine with the lower end fully restored. Still needs head and engine accessories installed which are included. Will include a pressure tested head. Finally includes an installed Murphy longwheelbase dual cowl repro. body completed in the white, built from original Harrah car patterns in the 1970s or 1980s. Sister repro copy car is the green and black Murphy in the Nethercutt collection, photographed in many books next to the yellow and red Lion gas pumps.Price $270,000. Project #2:Longwheelbase frame #2481.Frame needs to be restored, but all repro castings needed to restore the frame. I paid $40,000 for this frame at the Klieve auction in Ohio in Aug. 2005. Project is completely disassembled but I purchased enought parts from the Dee Howard collection to substantially complete this second car. Includes beautiful and complete front and rear axles, steering column, super nice original and early model Winchester radiator and new shell, wheels and hubs/brakes,part of an original Warner T-72 Hi Flex transmission,a complete but disassembled engine from the Dee Howard collection with a bored block, turned crank,,steel rods, pressure tested head, engine accessories,4 later style fenders that need restoration, etc. etc. etc. Finally project includes a beautiful repro LaGrande dual cowl phaeton body in the white with firewall and dash. Price for this project is $190,000. Photo CD of this project available around mid December. Brian Joseph has most of the repro and new parts to complete both cars. Both cars will be for sale in next issue of Hemmings, the next ACD gazette,AACA website, etc. This forum is the first public posting of these vehicles being offered for sale. This will probably be your last chance to ever buy an authentic and correct Duesenberg project at any price! And as all of us have seen, prices on Duesenbergs are on the rise,so this is an excellent investment regardless to when you get around to restoring it. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE.
