i am new to all this mess. please excuse goofs.a few months ago i got interested in reattas; procrastinated and missed getting a 90 red conv. have been searching the web since and am considering a 90 red conv.with 85k;very nice driver cond. have done a lot of bckg checking; quite conf. its ok and may make offer in couple days. planning to have it shipped from PA to NC. have requestd quotes thru shipvehicles.com today.does anyone have a rec. of a reliable shipper and how the cost is figured for open mode? i'm sure something will have to be fixed if and when i get it so this forum will be great for info/help; i can't work on cars much. thanks for being there and for the chance to participate. i did read some chatter today; from tammy: what is a reatta s/60?

Many years ago I bought a 1978 Triumph Spitfire that hit 100,000 miles shortly after I bought her.I asked my boss about towing, and considered a company that hauls cars. My boss, who is a car nut commented. Insurace will not cover towing with the company car, and having it shipped will be more than you want to spend. The smartest thing you can do is to drive it home, as you will learn everything there is to know about it.

I sold the Spit to my best customer, and she asked if I'd help her sell it a few months ago. It had about 150K on it. I sold it for good dollars. Drive your car home and learn about it. Forget about shipping.

Select 60s are 60+ cars sold to the best dealers in 90, and Tammy has a good one.

thanks for the feedback; orig. thought of driving it home(400 miles) but thought it might need some repair or parts and didn't want to deal with that on the road; also, thought of towing it with my pickup but thought that was too risky; maybe driving would be best; thanks. i didn't mean "mess"; that was abv. for messaging.

'90 Select 60: sold by the "top" 60 Buick dealers that year, and an extra 5 for execs. White paint, white wheels, white top, white leather, black rub strip, Flame Red dashboard and trim, and no pinstripe. 16'' 1991-style wheels. They're obviously quite valuable and turn heads <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />. You know it's a real Select 60 because the build sticker in the trunk has the X22 code. There are some '91 look-alikes which are actually more valuable, however.

The '88 Select 60 was a black coupe with saddle leather and seude. Not too much is known about these. They also have the X22 code, but I suspect scrapping rates to be higher, since they appear to be ordinary (Select 60s obviously aren;t).

I purchased a 90 red convertable last month in Santa Barbara and drove it 1200 miles back to Seattle over a 2 day period. No Problems. it has 44K miles on it.

I recommend requesting the seller to take it to the closest Buick dealer for an onspection. Contact that dealer ahead of tome to make arrangements, and anything special you want checked. This will cost you in the range of 60 to 90dollars but is well worth it prior to getting on the road. I had new plugs and wires, and the trani oil changed. Have them check the age and condition of your tires, mine were in good condition, but were 12 years old. DOT code on tier gives Mfg date.

I used a company called www.ridemovers.com and they were very reliable and fast delivery,their prices were good too. I had a car shipped from Norfolk,VA to LaGrange Highlands,IL a 90 Volvo C70 coupe and it was around $650.00 on an open trailer, and I had the car in about 4 days,I was impressed, and it was during a snowstorm.
