Shawn_P
Guys id like to pick your brain about my exhaust header. three of the 4 ports at the top have been either burnt through or have rotted away... im leaning towards burnt through. Now I was thinking of taking it to a machine shop have them cut out the 4 "rings" where the manifold mates with the block have them put in new "rings" weld it up so i now have 4 solid and true "rings" to mate with the block as well as do the same for the threads where the exhaust nut attatches to because mine has seen better days. Also I do have another manifold where just the threaded section has been broken off, should i get that fixed? This one is a little more rougher... ie pitted from rust melting it away with age. So what do you guys think? use the better looking one that takes more money to get it fixed? or try sandblasting the one that needs little work? Or dont bother and find a manifold that doesnt need any work.... Any thoughts?Shawn
Jan Arnett
find another manifold. You are dealing with cast iron on the manifold which is a **** to weld. Manifolds are avaliable.
Shawn_P
Good to know! I was gonna Braze it with brass, or use cast iron sticks for my arc welder... but by the sounds of it look around...
