39Desoto
Hi Guys my name is Luke and I live in Australia. I'm finding it hard to find the parts I require to restore my 1939 Desoto SP7 4 door Sedan. This was a candian build for Export. I need Door handles, window winders, hubcap (set)distributor rotor. Your help and any information would be most appreciated. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Guest elmo39
Hi Luke looks like we are both from down under im from NZ.your car is actualy plymouth bodied.but door handles and winder handles are the same as the D11 dodge and the 39s6 desoto the hub caps werespecial ones made only for the sp7 the rotor should be no problem as i have several complete canadian 39 dodge longblock engines in my shed if you can let me know where to send it i will try to find a good rotor and send it to you. the handles i am sure i have seen advertised on PLYDO www.plydo.com if not try andy bernbaum. www.oldmoparts.com hope thats some help Rex
Guest elmo39
Hi Luke im back again ,i have been doing some thinking about your car , for the hub caps you could contact the chrysler restorers club here in NZ as i know they have afew members with sp7,s as that is what mainly came to NZ in the desoto line there is also a place here that manufactures new hub caps to a pattern they are pressed stainless caps not spun. i am sure he has a mould for the sp7 as i was talking to him some time ago about making some for my 39s6 desoto and he mentioned he had them then but they were no good to me as the s6 are different i think he said about nz $160.00 each but cant guarentee that.his address is Dave Patten Replica Manufacturing 160 New York street Martinborough NZ. 39Desoto
Hi elmo I really appreciate that, I'm from NZ to, moved to Aust in 94. Brought the car over with us, it was my dads.I'll be going back for two weeks on the 18th so will check all that out. I have the rotor, yes that was no Problem. The handles on my Desoto have fancy scroll knobs, haven't yet seen those anywhere, I was thinking of having the one good one I have moulded and reproduced , still an option if I cant find originals, but the hubcaps have been my main concern, so this is great news. I'll let you know how I go. I have had a guy in NZ contact me , he's been great with helpful hints, thanks to this site I hope my problems have been solved, thanks. I will keep you posted on my progress after my return from NZ.thanks againLuke
