Put the axle nut back on. When the hub does break loose you will be glad you left the nut on to stop the drum from flying off and damaging something - maybe you. Leave the nut three or four turns from being tight against the drum. Tighten the puller up as tight as you can. If you have the dog bone style, tighten it with a good hammer. If it does not pop off overnight, then hammer the dogbone a little tighter. It may take a while but it will bust loose.
