Guest svkiwi Posted March 6, 2009 Share Posted March 6, 2009 Gary, the pistons have a crown, therefore they actually protrude above the deck at TDC. When I assemble the engine I 'clay' the piston tops and measure piston [and valve] clearance to cylinder heads. Aim to acheive .040"-.050" clearance for a good street flathead.
