Aanderson44 Posted January 28, 2006 Share Posted January 28, 2006 That's probably a valve gear eccentric, for controlling the valve action in the steam chest above the cylinder. Steam engines almost always were "double acting", meaning that steam worked against both sides of the piston, in an oscillating fashion, giving a single cylinder steam engine the effect and function of two cylinders.Art Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
