ronm10
Is the canister on the full flow oil system supposed to stay full? Even if my car sits for long periods when I go to change the oil filter oil spills all over because the canister is full. It would see me that the oil would drain back down into the pan after the engine is shut off. Do I have some plugged passages some place. Guest imported_BaronvonR
My understanding is that it remains full. The oil is forced through the filter by the pump, so when car is not running it just sits there. It is the same on my 1950 Imperial.BvR
Guest brian
Hi Ron:Canister is supposed to remain full. If you have trouble with oil spilling when you change the filter, check to see if there is a drain plug plug in the bottom of the canister (facing toward the fender and downward at about 45 degrees). My recollection is that not all had drain plugs, but if it has its easier and cleaner than having to remove the filter from a canister full of dirty oil and then suctioning it out.Brian
