MBL
Howdy all...My name is Tim and I am new to this part of the AACA forums....I have a question about a generator conversion that some may be able to help me with. I know of folks who are using a stock 6V 8BA generator with a 12V regulator. While it puts out less amps...it still does the job. He has not changed the field coils or arm. I have heard this is an old trick that some did back in the day.Now my issue.... I think you can easilly take a 3 Brush generator and convert it to a 2 Brush generator. Can this be done? I would think if you take the movable 3rd brush out...and connect one of the field coil wires to the arm brush...then run the wire from the arm brush to the arm on a standard voltage regulator....this may work....the other field coil wire would then go to the fld on the regulator....Has anyone ever done this? if so...would then the trick of using a 12V regulator work with this 6V 3brush conversion?Does this make sense? Any help on this would be great.ThanksTimMBL
