BBStude21
I would like to re-create the "Vintage" type conection from my water pump to my radiator on my 1921 Studebaker. From what I can tell it was a short piece of hose from the water pump to a pipe (? not sure what kind) to a hose then to the radiator. I need a recommendation of what type of pipe that was. Steel? I guess.BBStude21
Guest stude8
Most Studebakers had rigid steel tubing between the radiator outlet and the water pump inlet to prevent the hose from being "sucked" flat when heated up by the hot water flowing in it. I have used aluminized exhaust pipe that lasted for years, copper or brass pipe is better for water use but doesn't come in standard sizes like 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" that fit properly. Later model cars simply used rubber hose with the integral spiral wire wound core to prevent flatening when hot under suction. Stude8
