All I can say that it looks too New and in too good a condition to be from a '40. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

But, if it fits and matches other knobs, 'Go For It'. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yes, there is a difference. If you put a 6.v lighter on 12.v it won't last long (element will burn out), if it's used much and a 12.v lighter on 6.v doesn't get as hot but it will light a cigar (takes longer to get hot). At least that's what happened when I tryed a 12.v on 6.v

The element is a coil of resistance wire. Higher resistance for the 12.v type.

Ok Thanks! It is for the back seat lighter so I don't think it will get used but didn't want it to short the car out if someone pushes it to test. :-)
