Brake light problem

Recommended Posts

Helped out a little bit thanks much, I have since gotten the headlights and tail lights to work properly now, but I am still having a problem with the driver side brake light... This is the weirdest thing I think I have ever encountered while working on wiring. The drivers side brake light will work if the head lights are not on, the head lights are on and you don't press the brake the light will work as the parking light properly but when you step on the brake the light goes out? That's the only time the light doesn't work properly is when you have the headlights on and you press the brake pedal??

Very weird i think, because the left side works fine nice and bright and everything i even tried running the wires from the left side to right side and still the same problem, But only with the right side?? I also tried using a different bulb holder and still when you have the headlights on and hit the brakes the light goes out? Oh I forgot to mention that the when the light is working it is very dull (I bought a brand new light also) Do you have any idea's about this at all I have never seen something like this before!!!

Hey, I just dropped in for a look and am offically introducing myself. Hope I can be of help to those in need.

As for the brake light problem, I would suspect the turn signal switch is defective. I had the same issue on a Plymouth years ago and chased myself around for days.

i have the same problem...the passenger side light turns off when headlights are on and brake is pressed... im almost 100% positive this is caused from a bad ground...and my lights are very dim also..i think they are dim just because thats how 6 volt is so for now i just left it so the passenger light turns off when the headlights are on...i figure people will no when i press the brake better than having 2 super dim where you can barely see the change lights
