Just Bill
Restoring a 36 Plymouth woody, 1 of 3 that we know of. Poor condition, but improving. Roof, front door hinge posts and all wood behind back doors is sawdust. My question is about the front suspension. On the drivers side front spring, rear spring hanger, there is a strange arrangement for hanging that corner of the spring. Does anyone know its' purpose??? It is not a simple bolt and bracket/bushing like the other side, but several swiveling brakets with grease fittings.
gunfixinsmith
Bill : The arrangement you describe is a road shock eliminating spring shackle. It was thought to be a major improvement over the '35 arrangement and was designed to reduce the amount of road shock transmitted thru. the steering column and on up to the driver.
