Guest imported_Speedster
When I purchased my '29 626, one the first things I noticed and thought was vary strange was the Water pump, that was mounted on side of engine instead on front of block. (I think '29 was the only year they did that, correct?) I always wondered why Packard did that? Someone told me that the engine wouldn't fit without moving it, for some reason. Does anyone know the details of this change?
Guest JT
If I remember right I read it was mounted on front of the block on some of the first 29's and then moved to the side due to the fact that you had to move the radiator to change the fan belt. The next year they moved the engines back in the frame to eliminate that problem.
