Guest
This may be my first and last e-mail (because my wife will probably end up killing me over this) but I am about to purchase a 1990 TC with a 5 speed manual transmission (200HP?). What should I be looking for in this car- and to let you know, I am no mechanic but I just love the looks of these cars. Any help would be appreciated.
TwinCamFan
First off, welcome to the list and TC ownership.Where to begin when looking at a possible car purchase, so many things, too many to list here. The usual car buying basics, make sure the title is clear and the owner has possession, not impossible to clear up later but extra work. Check to see if any service history is available, can the owner provide records/reciepts? Overall condition of the car, the TC's have have some issueswith the leather interior unless they have been well cared for. Parts laways get every spare partor accessory that the owner may have stored. The TC's have some spare items such as tool kits, umbrella (stored in the spare tire hold), hardtop cover, floor mats, etc etc etc. Just try to get everything at time of purchase, the previous owner will be less than motivated to help you once funds have changed hands. As far as the 16 valve five speed car goes GOOD CHOICE Of course I may be just a bit biased! Many of the drivetrain specific parts on the five speed cars are VERY scarce but the feel of the twin cammotor under boos makes it well worth it There is much to learn about the cars but that takes some time and effort, email me privatly and I'll help youwhere I can.Alan
