JUSTIN
mine leaks on my rebuilt motor. ( I think thats where the oil is coming from). A local shop will charge $275 if its a split rear seal and $475 if its a one-piece rear seal. They don't have to remove the trans if its a split. Which one does it have?

Also they recommended TX7 to try to stop the leak. Has anybody tried that?
The Old Guy
401s have a split rear seal,so all they have to do is remove the pan.
Guest
If memory serves me correctly, the 401 has the oil pressure switch on the back of the motor. If no one has already checked it, you may just want to make sure that it is not leaking. It would leak down the back and appear to be a rear seal.
Just my 2 cents, but would not hurt to check.
Good Luck,
Mark
JUSTIN
How much clearance do you need to drop the pan on a 65 riviera? is $275 a good price for this?
