31 LaSalle Posted June 27 Share Posted June 27 I am in the process of refitting the pan on my 72 after removing all the sludge there is a srip of felt and a metal cover that bolts up to the pan on the gearbox end what is its purpose some sort of seal??? Sasha39 Posted June 28 Share Posted June 28 As you said the seal is fitted between the pan and the flywheel housing and I guess it there to keep dust and dirt out of the flywheel housing as there is a gap between the lower half of the flywheel housing and the big end where the seal is fitted. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
