Charles2 Posted May 9, 2003 Share Posted May 9, 2003 Can anyone tell me what color the air cleaner assembly was on a 40 Special with the oiled mesh filter element. I have taken about 5 layers of paint off the one in my car and the bottom layer was a metallic gold. I seem to recall from my mechanic days that some GM cars had gold air filters but my 38 (Buick) Special had a black air filter. Any help will be much appreciated.
