STORY- My Dad?s Buick

A 1956 Buick Special Convertible, fully restored from the ground up, Coral (Pink) and Black color combination. Body off restoration, all original parts, engine rebuilt, new tires, hidden sound system, 12 CD changer. Every detail in this car was cleaned, coated, repainted or replaced with original parts.

When I was ten years old my Dad bought a 1956 Special Convertible in St. Paul, Minnesota in November during the winter of 1955 (Thats me in the picture).

His company had just folded, and he was moving his family to California. Although my Dad was never the Pink and Black car kind of guy, and I can only surmise that this was the only convertible in the showroom that November of ?55. With his last dollar he bought the car and drove it to California and a new life. California, sunshine, and oranges in the backyard, and a Pink and Black Buick Convertible in the driveway. He loved that car.

As I grew up and approached sixteen, I will always remember the mistake I made when my Dad asked me if I wanted to buy the Buick before he traded it in. I said I wanted a VW. I settled two years later for a ?59 Ford Station wagon and I have always regretted that decision.

As both my Dad and I aged I told him that one day I was going to find another ?56 Buick Convertible and restore it? just like his.

I know he often thought I was crazy? and now I know he was right, but I finally had the opportunity and what you see here is the result.

This car has been professionally and lovingly restored to match my Dad?s in every detail. It was used in both my son?s weddings and that?s all. It is just not driven. It has less than 1,000 miles on the new engine. It has always been garaged and maintained. I built a garage at my office to house it, and now I have put it up for sale to someone who might appreciate these efforts, and love Buick?s just as my Dad did. He only drove Buick?s throughout his life.

My Dad passed away before I ever restored ?his car?, but although he probably thinks I was still crazy, he?s smiling that I made the effort to correct a mistake I made at fifteen. Not too many of us get that opportunity.

For the right person and/or collector, this rare car is a beauty.

Do you have an asking price? Is this car on ebay? You may provide a link to your ebay auction, but I don't think this is an auction site. I DO think an asking price is required for posting in the Buy/Sell forum.

Cool car, though! Excellent documentation. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
