My thoughts were that wiping a film of grease( over greasing ) on the taper before assembly would prevent the tapers from actually seating and lead to slippage, something the designers obviously would like to avoid so they advise a dry fit. The problem is a dry fit invites, over time, the tapers "freezing".

The previous poster is of the opinion that a very thin wiping of a light oil would still allow a tight fit and ease the future removal of the hub.
