For my last tour in the Navy, I was stationed in Bahrain ( http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/ia_find?link=school/worldatlas_index&uid=u4.8m4j7yec8ldwd:8a0rz0g07&atlas=bahrain ) for a year. During that time, I had the opportunity to visit the National Musemum. I'd remembered that they had a Buick, but I didn't have any details as to model, etc. I just found a link to a picture of the car on Webshots at:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/4842964/4967364YhNlAucxwJ
If I recall the story, the Buick was imported as part of the US participation in looking for oil in the late 20's/early 30's and delivered to the Amir (King) of Bahrain. The archives in the museum had an extensive history and many photos of the old Buick in it's life as a transport for royals. I also remember the Buick was restored at a rather exorbitant cost, and I think it was done in the US in the early 80's. Who can add some detail as to year/model?
Cheers,
John
------------------
John Chapman
BCA 35894
1965 Skylark Convertible (Some Assembly Required)
jmchapman@aol.com
