Guest
Yesterday while servicing my newly acquired 1911 AB Roadster I found a inner front wheel bearing had failed and fell apart when I removed the wheel. I haven't removed the race from the wheel to take any measurments yet. But I thought someone may be able to tell me if this bearing is readily avialable or am I going to have to search for it?Cleon Eck cleoneck@aol.com

Guest
If the race is good and the balls are suspect in condition and count, you can get new balls at a bearing house, then all you need is the lock ring that holds the balls into the race. These are disassemblable bearings. I suspect the lock ring is there too. These can be made. Finding new bearings that are an off the shelf fit might be tough. You would have to plan on making ID or OD spacer rings or both.
