Guest
I recently came across a picture described as a '62 Porsche Karman Hardtop 356. It looks like every other 356 hardtop I've ever seen. Did Karman provides bodies to Dr. Porsche, or is this a coach-built special? I heard that Karman provided bodies to VW for the Karman Ghia, Bug convertibles, & Rabbit/ Golf convertibles. Guest
At various times, Porsche used Karmann, Reutter, Drauz and other coachbuilders for special and series production 356 autos. Eventually (around 1967), due to the close long-term relationship between the two companies, Porsche absorbed Reutter.
Jim Dix
Karmann produced a fixed hard top coupe (notch back) in the '62 model year. It looked like a cabriolet with the factory hardtop in place. Not very popular in its day, therefore rare today. Not as pretty as the standard coupe, or my favorite the roadster.
