Guest
IS anyone using the TA performance Shorty headers? I have this thing about noisy engine compartments and I just took off a set of full length headers because they were a little too noisy for my tastes. I am wondering if the shorty headers would be quieter and what they do for power. I would guess that there is less surface area to give off noise so they would be quieter, but it is an expensive bet to buy them and have coated and find out they aren't what I want. Any thoughts would be appreciated.Bob
Romy
I don't know, but I was just wondering what you were doing with your old full length headers...and if you wanted to sell them. What type of car were they in, or rather, what type of cars are they made to fit in?

Guest
i have a set of them on my car, i just installed them. i havent got a chance to check for engine heat because the dupli-color "high temp" (1200*)degree engine paint bubbled up the paint and then they caught on fire. there wasnt any engine damage as i put it out with a fire ext really quickthey were a really good fit although the driver side is a bit tight, you have to raise one side of the engine. and the 3 inch pipes from ta bolt right up andthey fit really really nice. take note, if you take the exterder pipes ( the ones that run from the shorty headers to the head pipes) and switchthem from side to side, they will dump right under the front of the doors.Robert Petrone72 skylark 350 w/ 455 and th400
Guest
How's the ground clearance???? I'm considering headers and thats my biggest concern. They can't hang any lower than stock cause my exhaust pipes are already scraped up!
Guest
the pipes hang about two inches below the trans pan, but there is still plenty of clearence. i have driven over speed bumps and what not and i havent scraped them once. the are a really good fit with tons of ground clearence. i have 3 inch pipes from ta installed on the car so stock pipes should give you even more clearence. they sound great and i really felt a diffrence in low end torque over stock manifolds.robert petrone72 skylark "350" wink wink (car has a healthy 455) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Guest
Thanks for the reply Bruce. What do you mean they have no collector? There is a flange where the exhaust bolts up to right?
