abrahamseven Posted March 1, 2018 Share Posted March 1, 2018 I have a beautiful 1947 style master Chevrolet coupe last Summer the door would not close, after further examination I found the the wedge inside the latch that the outside handle attaches to , which closes or locks into the striker plate on the door post, will not spring out of the door when you open it, thus when you close the door again since it is. Stuck in the door it cannot latch with the striker plate on the door post. Does that make sense? Any way I need a new door latch and I have restored many 47 to 54 Chevy pickups and have always replaced the door latches. Easy to buy and plentiful, but not the for the 41-48 Chevy passenger car. Can’t find one any where new and the ones I do find are junk and worn out. If anybody has any ideas where I might find one please let me know. Thank you and sorry for the long post.
