63 buick skylark driveshaft

Recommended Posts

Do you have an automatic or manual trans? I believe the driveshaft is different for each. I'm familiar with the one for the automatic. It's a 2 piece shaft with a constant velocity joint connecting the 2. As well there is a support bearing assembly in about the center. The problem with these shafts is usually in the CVJ and the support bearing. The old grease dries out and the CVJ wears out. These CVJ's haven't been available for years. However a good driveline shop can usually adapt one from a modern assembly. You can use the same assembly from 61-63 Buick Specials and Skylarks. Not sure if the small Olds (F85??) from those years is the same.
